Webster says:
Main Entry: ru·mi·nate
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): ru·mi·nat·ed; ru·mi·nat·ing
transitive verb 1 : to go over in the mind repeatedly and often casually or slowly
2 : to chew repeatedly for an extended period
i find it very useful (and sometimes a little insane) to go over a thing many, many times, looking very closely at it to ensure all of its inner workings register in my mind. i always feel the need to UNDERSTAND in order to move forward. i've become less of a 'leap before you look' person and have moved more towards 'think long and hard about the inevitable drop'... anyone else have this problem?

Occasionally...but I always get to a point where I go crazy and do something purely on impulse to counteract it.

You're normal.
